All demons come from Hell, where damned souls go when they leave Earth. Some claim that demons are fallen angels. Like humans, they are of different strengths. The Seventy-Two being the most powerful. Baal, Moloch, Lucifer, were part of that group. The politics of Hell involved gaining entrance to that group, and exercising the powers of that group. (See Hell for a description of that Demon location. See The Eight for names in the top 8 of the 72)

The demons that invaded humans were tinier entities, that humans had summoned (Ouija boards, spells, etc.) for a specific purpose. A few of the demons were unable to take over the human bodies they inhabited, and fought with their humans. Katie, Korbin, Damian, etc. Good demons healed their humans, gave them more strength and stamina, and helped them in other ways. When a demon invaded a human host, the human was said to have been infected, and was considered "dead" by other humans.

“For years, demons have been summoned to this plane, and they take form inside of a human host. Some live side by side with the human, while others completely swallow the human’s soul and keep the body as their own. You seem to have your wits about you for now, but those human rejects released a demon and it has taken up residence in your body.” And it had, talking to her all through the fight- almost a blow-by-blow account.

Demons can hide inside their host and put up blocking spells of sorts to keep a priest away, but it’s unusual to see it. If that is what’s going on here, this demon is exceptionally powerful.” Damian stifled a snort. “Possibly even one of the Seventy-Two.”What are the Seventy-Two?”

“That’s a longer story.” Korbin sighed. “But the short answer is, they are the most powerful demons. The top Seventy-Two. Some say they are descendants of the original fallen angels cast down from heaven by God himself. We look at them as bad creatures who come from other dimensions to wreak havoc here. Think of it as an alien invasion, but they use rifts in the dimensions between our realities rather than space ships

KINDS OF DEMONS:

Level-Four Affinity Demon, owned by Garrett. He likes to play with matches, and create with embers and soot. I guess if I had to catch a demon, that kind makes the most sense for me. His name is Glazglow, and he only talks or reacts when he senses fire—which is why the only place I let myself be around it is in Damian’s temple. Glazglow doesn’t seem to like the giant neon cross so much. Glazglow is considered a lazy demon. Never really fights with me or tests me too much. I guess he’s just happy being inside my body.

Succubi: They aren’t inside anyone; they are in spirit form. They feed off sex and inject it back into the atmosphere. Succubi are incredibly hard to get rid of, and their powers are strong. They’re different from your run-of-the-mill drooler munching on flesh, but powerful none the less. They are an annoyance, and can be a serious annoyance.

Nickars: Calvin's demon is a nickar, a sea demon.They are water demons, best known for drownings, capsized boats, etc., “He is like a Level Four or something, but just sits quietly most of the time. He does keep me thirsty. Maybe that is why I love San Diego so much more now.”

Demons can’t walk around Earth without a human capsule.

Lower level demons) They’re almost like apparitions once they’re out. Even if they weren’t, catching one when the human host died would be impossible, because when the human dies, so does the demon. (Pandora didn't know this. She had always left her human before they died.) Have you ever lost a teammate to their demon?” Katie asked. Damian shook his head. “I’ve never seen it, but I’ve heard stories. Sometimes it just gets to be too much for the human mind to handle. Sometimes a soul is just tired, I guess you could say. When a human gives up in the regular world they fall into depression, but when a Damned gives up they fall into possession. The demon takes control of their entire mind, body, and soul.There isn’t really any coming back from that.” 03/13 Higher level demons, the ones from just 3 or 4 levels below the 72 and up, can come to Earth in their own bodies, not needing humans for anything but food. Can be summoned by humans, usiing the correct spells and controls.

MOST EVIL DEMONS IN HELL Baal banged his staff on the ground, and the large red stone on top glowed brightly. The ground shook with each contact, and the portal behind him began to spark and swirl. Two large demons that looked more like snakes than trolls slithered through the portal and wrapped themselves around his feet. Baal kicked the beasts off his legs and cleared his throat, grimacing at the disgustingness of the creatures. They were a special kind of demon, those who had been around since the beginning of time. They had crept through the Garden of Eden and wreaked havoc among the very first humans, weaving their seeds of discord throughout humanity from then on. These beasts were some of the worst demons they could muster, and though they lacked the size of the most demons, they held some of the most concentrated evil Baal knew of.

EXORCISM. How to get rid of a demon. “What would it take to kill a demon?" (See Technology, Exorcism) Things are difficult with Garrett's demon. His is a fire demon, and quite a powerful one at that. He’s quiet inside Garrett, but at the first sign of anyone even thinking about removing him he begins to fight back. It almost killed Garrett the first week he was here.” Do you think he is strong enough now?” she asked. Damian nodded. “I would bet that he is. The problem with it is, you have to kill the demon inside him. You have to lure it out enough to be able to kill it. That’s where it gets tricky. The demon still is somewhat in the body, so it has the ability to use magic and such, but that also means it can kill its host. This particular demon has been a thorn in all our sides since Garrett arrived. We don’t know how to kill him without killing Garrett too, so in his eyes it was always too risky. He didn’t want to be away from his family, but at least here he is able to watch them from afar. There would be nothing he could do to protect them if he were dead.” We aren’t quite sure,” he said. “He doesn’t react to scripture. I can’t cast him out, leaving his aura to hover until he is sent back to hell, and outside the body there is no way to kill him since he isn’t tangible. I know demons can kill other demons, but we haven’t come upon any demons chomping at the bit to do us any favors.”

So, exorcism… Is it something that happens a lot?”

“Not really. There are a lot of risks involved. You could die, you could not die and be consumed, or you could end up being dragged down to hell with the demon if it is done incorrectly, which isn’t usually good for either of you. In the beginning, many attempts were made by priests in my religion and Catholicism—many failed attempts. The higher-ups put a stop to it, only allowing a select few of us to attempt them, and only on those who have volunteered and been told the risks that go along with it.”

DEMON PSYCHOLOGY : I know you humans stick together just because you share a species, but us demons…we don’t. We are only for ourselves, not for each other. Even when we congregate it’s so we don’t get bored. We are harder to kill in groups, but we don’t give a shit about the weak one. Katie asks Pandora, "Could you kill Garrett's Demon? Bring him into your body, and I’ll snap his little greasy neck. If you do this it’ll give me a little excitement. I’ll get to feel useful again for a little while, stretch my claws, take out some of my built-up aggression on him.

TO FIGHT A DEMON: “Avoid their claws. They will try to swipe for your face to blind you, your neck to kill you, or your stomach to spill your guts. Fight as far back as you can, but if you have to engage hand-to-hand, either get them on the ground or swing around to the back of them.”

TO SUMMON A DEMON: The politician used the following process and incantation to summon T'Chezz's partner. Floor cleared, several humans around for food, blue dust sprinkled on floor ( Mojan dust is used to enclose the circle and keep the beast inside) in a circle around the bodies. With his arms over his head, and his palms out, outside the circle, he chanted incantation four times, each time a little louder. . “Nos hie vocare te magnanime daemonium septuaginta duo. Exite nostrae tenebras paravimus corporis tui. Quod petis hic damnatio suscipiendum hoc tecum sumus”. On third time, the house began to rattle, and the demon started to materialize. On the fourth time, the demon uncurled and stood up. The politician, by providing a way to break the circle (rope on fire, not lighted by either until circle needs to be broken) has given demon way to be free of circle, and do as he wishes (food entertainment, etc,)

TO KILL A DEMON: Can a demon die? Oh, it can happen. Pandora chuckled. Typically it’s by a heavenly host and a sword you can’t even see, but it can happen. In demon form, as in fights, bodies turn to dust as they transform and go back to the depths of Hell.

Demons don’t play fair in those situations, but at the same time, if you’ve got a heavenly host after you, you have done something far beyond the normal demon/devil mischief. You’ve obliterated an entire race,or - Taken over a planet of humans and forced them to do your bidding? Demons are not immortal. There are ways to kill us; the secret just doesn’t lie in human hands, that’s all

This is the information and the instructions General Brushwood gave the group of government troops before they went out on their first experience, which was also the first major incursion in the new war by the Demons of Hell.

General Brushwood is instructing his troops on how to recognize a demon. “You’ll see here that the eyes glow red. At this point typically there isn’t much left of whatever human the demon took over. Some demons will look like this and others will look like you or me, only with a red ring in their eyes and a shitty attitude.” Talks of special ammo, and special metal, and that it takes either a headshot or decapitation to kill them. When you kill one of these sonsabitches, they will either leave the corpse of the human they took, or turn to dust. Intel has told us that the demon itself ends up back in hell to either be sent back here or banished to the depths where it won’t see the light of day for centuries.” One of the soldiers raised their hand. “So you’re saying that we may, in theory, fight the same demon more than once in different battles?”

The General tells them about Katie, and the private mercenary groups. “The woman you see is Damned. She is a member of a civilian mercenary group that, after decades of miscommunication, we are now working closely with to win this war. They have demons in them, but they are able to harness that power and use it to fight back. They are the greatest hope we have to win this. They are experienced professionals, and working with them both minimizes our casualties and maximizes the kill count.

“You will even find that on occasion you are running back up for a team of no more than four mercenaries. Those four will take down every demon they find. This particular mercenary is named Katie, and she is the reason you now have the special bullets to use. She and her team have cooperated with the Army at every step, and you are hereby ordered never to cause one of them harm under threat of dire consequences.

WHAT DEMONS SNACK ON These are a cokpilation of many pages sentences, comments, taken from the many books of this series.

SNACKS: Live animals - furry puppies (tea-cup chihuahuas,served in baskets), hamsters, kittens (in pop-corn buckets), carameled turtles (Moloch - The turtles were alive, just like every other creature he devoured, and he liked the way their feet tickled the roof of his mouth. He chuckled as he swallowed. He much preferred turtles over kittens. The fur and their tiny little dewclaws always got stuck between his back teeth.He picked the last one up and turned it back and forth in his hand, his eyes crinkling with amusement as its feet waved uselessly in the air and its little head poked in and out of its shell. He swirled the caramel over it, the turtle’s struggles causing it to plop over one eye. Moloch caught the drip with a swipe of his sandpaper tongue and tossed the turtle in before the caramel landed on his carpet. Maybe next time he'd add some nuts.)

Lizards, live, chocolate covered.

Gerbils: Baal groaned and got up from his throne made of skulls, walked over to the food table, and popped a gerbil in his mouth. The thing scrabbled inside his mouth, its long tail hanging out. Finally, after giggling at the tickling of the gerbil’s claws, Baal crunched and swallowed, smiling as he turned toward the portals.

Baby Bunnies : Baal andMoloch sat in Moloch’s office with their feet propped up on the table, munching on the day’s catch of baby bunnies. Moloch reached out and grabbed a bunny by the ears, holding it over his mouth and dropping it inside with a crunch. Baal ate them a little bit more neatly, holding one by his fluffy tail and taking off the head first. WOTD 05/19

Humans: Moloch walked through the door to his home dimension and sat down hard on a large stone, dropping the two bodies in front of him. He growled as he lifted one and took a bite, then wiped his bloody mouth on his arm.Baal tried to take an arm. Moloch slapped Baal’s hand and growled at him. “Go to Earth and get your own snacks.” Baal likes to watch human TV, because "They all look so delicious!"

ANOTHER DEMON IN HELL

When Katie is protecting the Science team on the outside ring of Hell, Baal and Moloch set a specially horrific demon on her named Invernus, over eighty feet tall, strong! Not too smart. She beats him and kills him by allowing Pandora to take over her body, then grow to his size, and kicking him in his gonads, killing him when he's bent over.
