Angie

How Angie looked when Katie found her: a young light-brown-skinned woman huddled on the floor against the hallway wall with her face in her hands. She spied the bruises peppering the woman’s beautiful skin, marring her hands and arms and neck. There was a burn mark on her right arm that looked like it couldn’t be any older than a couple of days, the skin puckered angrily around the wound. Also an injured ankle. “I don’t have the money to go anywhere else. He hasn’t let me work or have any money,” so Katie saves her from her abuser, and "adopts" her, buying her new clothes, taking her up to her hotel and getting her a room, feeding, clothing, etc. Had one year of college

There was a reason she had found Angie, a reason she felt the need to take care of her, and a reason that all of it had fallen into place so easily. She just hoped that reason came to light soon. Whatever it was that had drawn her to Angie, she still had no idea who the woman was or what she was capable of.
Angie after Katie had "adopted" her: She had gotten out of a situation she’d been dead sure she would only leave in a body bag. She’d been given a safe place to stay and clothes, and now here was an opportunity to leave all that behind and move on to the kind of life she’d never even dared to dream of. It was like her fairy godmother had waved a magic wand, and everything had changed in a heartbeat. A song from Hamilton played softly in Angie’s mind. I’m not going to miss my shot. At that moment, she made her decision. She was going to make it happen one way or another, and she wouldn’t let her doubts overtake her like they usually did. She had always battled with the concept that she might be capable of anything outside the normal day-to-day struggle to survive, and now she would no longer be ground down by life. She was being offered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and she was determined not to screw it up.She didn’t want to live the old way anymore. After Angie researched Katie's Killers: “I’m so sorry I treated you the way I did. I feel terrible for doubting you! I know now that you’re one of the good guys. I researched you and your team like you told me to, and you’re all heroes, demons or no demons.”
Angie’s back was straight, her long, dark hair meticulously pulled back into a ponytail, her clothes pressed and perfectly fitted, and a hint of makeup brightened her eyes. She held her head a little higher than before.
Angie becomes of great use to Katie, helping her with the condo hunting, finding an interior decorator, lots of other small, minor details.
